It is traditional to attend services on Sunday and learn from the word of God. There is a great website called God Is Imaginary that contains large amounts of good information but it takes some time to read and listen to it all. For the next few weeks I will post up some of the videos that pertain to this site as a Sunday Sermon. I think you will find these to be a bit better prepared and thought out than the one you may have heard earlier today.

I’ve seen this video before…it’s really good. The problem will be (and if any Christians post we will see) that everyone tries to justify their own position and will continue to think everyone else is crazy…even after watching the video. The cognitive dissonance that this entails is unbelievable…but when I showed people this video before that was exactly what happened. Just crazy!
The deluded are heavily fortified by a Wall of Blind Ignorance in the Castle of Christ. While constantly firering from their parapet the crossbow bolts laced with the highly addictive drug of heaven. This is going to be a tough fight. lol

What is wrong with this argument?
1. Roman emperors hated Christians, argued with Christians and passed laws against Christians. Roman emperors also killed many Christians, they were evil bloodthirsty murderers.
2. Russian communists hated Christians, argued with Christians and passed laws against Christians. Russian communists were evil bloodthirsty murderers.
3. Western secular atheists (often) hate Christians, (often) argue with Christians and (would like to) pass laws against Christians.
Therefore
Western secular atheists are evil bloodthirsty murderers.
Watch the video again. Does the logic of it’s argument differ from this in any way.
Has the video intereacted with any of the evidence? The presenter says there is no evidence left behind whatsoever.
Let’s talk about willful blindness. I dare you to just google “Biblical manuscripts”, read it and then say there is no evidence. The science of studying the past is called history. There are two forms of evidence of the past, documents and archeology. Both come down solidly on the side of the Christian position.
The presenter says, “the Christian delusion hurts us all” and lists no examples or proofs but his own suppositions about what Christian belief means in practice. For example one could as easily argue that atheism devalues human life because life is seen as a result of chance and essentially meaningless. That Christians are more likely than atheists to endeavour to protect the unborn human life and the unwell aged life could be presented as proof of this supposition.
This argument is based on the similarity between Christianity and Islam and Mormonism. With a little more analysis the presenter could have noted because that similarity arises because Joseph Smith and Mohamed mimiced Christianity when they made up their religions. Perhaps the copy affirms the authenticity of the original. Certainly one counterfeit dollar does not proove that the other is also counterfeit. But each must be investigated on its merit.
Anyhow, I’m not afraid of the evidence. Look into the Bible, what did Jesus say, what did he do? Was he real? How do we know the Bible is true?
I am a Christian and not a Mormon or a Muslim because I am convinced of the historical authenticity of God’s intervention in history in the person of Jesus.
This video is a great discussion starter, but any person (atheist, whoever) with integrity will then go and do the research themselves.
Look at the evidence,don’t just pretend it doesn’t exist. You are in as much danger of believing what you want to believe as anyone else. It’s a human characteristic,a nd we all have to watch out for it. Look at the evidence.

You would think that the Lord and Savior/Miracle worker would have made hundreds if not thousands of documents. There is none. Of all real important people from that time period there are written records from multiple sources proving their existence. Jesus by any stretch of the imagination would have been a very important figure during that time. Where is the documentation? Everything was written after his death(decades). Please read my comment again. It’s not my argument, it never was.

I know the argument is dumb. You know the argument is dumb.
But what you fail to address is that this false argument (of mine) is exactly the same logic as applied in the video.
Before you call me “idiotic” and “put s l o w and easy so you can understand this” and call me “slow, unintelligent, non-thinking, stupid, completely deluded” ask yourself why you can see the false argument when it is applied to you, but not when the exact same logic is used by someone like minded. Your video hero describes delusion as an unwillingness to change your mind when faced with contrary evidence. This is you. Stick your fingers in your ears and yell, “It’s made up. It’s made up. It’s made up.” but the thousands of ancient manuscripts still exist in the museums and libraries.
Do an internet search on “papyrus 52″. Look at it’s date, take the outside oldest date and then assert that the documents that remain are not even 10th generation copies.
“Jesus never existed.” I’m sorry but your own delusion takes you well outside the scope that any competent historian would be prepared to go. There can be absolutely no doubt that Jesus did exist. There is no doubt that some uneducated, politically insignificant, geographically backward no name completely changed the world and the course of its history. Does this make Jesus more or less interesting? Whichever, you cannot say he didn’t exist. That, my friend, is a delusion. Look at the evidence, talk to a historian, someone used to dealing with historical evidence, and then think about that statement.
Friend one of the worst things about these sparring matches is that we see everything bad about the opponent and nothing of our own faults. In the video, our presenter uses this logic.
A has a set of characteristics X. A is false.
B has a set of characteristics X. B is also false.
C has a set of characteristics X. Therefore C is false.
This is the shape of the argument I made up and presented to you to show the falsity of the presenter’s argument.
Unicorns have four legs, unicorns don’t exist
Dragons have four legs, dragons don’t exist
Horses have four legs, therefore, horses don’t exist.
This argument works if we can show a defining link between A, B, C and so on. I suggest this connection was not made in the video. Hence the conclusion does not apply.
I suspect that, since you did not interact with the logic of my argument, you reject my argument because you don’t like my conclusion. But you accept the presenters argument because you like his conclusion. Delusion?
I suggest that concluding that Christianity is false because of the falsity of two religions copied on it is like concluding the first dollar is counterfeit because the other two are. They look the same because the two are copied from the first authentic one. If I got them all from the same shop, sure I would bite that first dollar, but I would check to see before I threw them all out.
But I would argue that these three religions didn’t come from the same shop. The character of Christianity is quite different from that of Islam and Mormonism. I wish you knew more authentic Christians and could see that for yourself.
That there is one or two counterfeit religions doesn’t make all religions counterfeit, each one must be evaluated on it’s evidence.
I am sorry that you were beat up when younger. I don’t know what idiots would do that sort of thing, but if I was a teacher there they would get a piece of my mind and learn to treat others better. I would make them read what Jesus actually said about thugs like that. I realise that experience is going to make it hard for you to see Christians with a neutral dispassion, but I hope your love for logic and reasonableness will help you interact with my actual arguments.

This is what I found.
