Hello I am the The Angry Philistine. My back ground is one of a child brought up in an evangelical household who was taught from a very young age that I am unworthy to even breathe air but by the grace of God. I was raised to feel inadequate, unworthy and to feel guilt with my every thought and action. I did this for 25 years. When finally I overcame my guilt enough to ask the questions and seek introspective truth I became The Angry Philistine. I realized that I had been lied to, controlled and manipulated for my entire life. That all I was led to believe was based on life as seen through a narrow lens. That there was more than I knew.
Fast forward 10 years and to the person I am today. I am still conflicted, fighting that instinctual urge to judge, and the inclination to see the world in either black or white. I am informed now though and recognize thought patterns and posses the ability to stop, re-evaluate and determine truth. As I distanced myself from my upbringing I began to realize that so much of the evil in this world is and has been perpetrated by, the righteous. Through research I became aware of the endless contradictions with in the Bible and how the followers of Christ pick those parts of the Bible they like to suit their cause and discard the remainder as not relevant in today’s times.
I do not have all the answers, I am not a Harvard grad in a scientific field. If you choose to comment here please do so in plain English that all the readers will understand. Advanced and theoretical sciences are interesting and appropriate but if you use them in your conversations please describe to an audience so that all will understand your reasoning. I want to learn from all who visit here. If you are a believer, avoid the same old comments like “You must have faith” or “The Bible Says”. Let us all agree up front that I do not believe in the Bible and the bulk of my readers will not as well. If you want to support the Bible or the existence of a deity you will need to provide proof of such existence beyond an argument that any believer of any faith could use.
